Using Gift Aid means for every pound you donate we are able to claim 25 pence from Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs, helping us to continue our educational, conservational and charity work. Imagine what a difference that could make and it doesn't cost you a thing. Making your donation under Gift Aid will enable the National Marine Aquarium, a registered charity, to benefit from an addition 25 pence for every £1 you pay at no additional cost to you. To do so you must pay income tax and/or capital gains tax at least equal to the tax the National Marine Aquarium will claim (currently 28 pence for every £1 you give).

2015 BIAZA Education and Presenters Conference – It’s good to talk!
National Marine Aquarium, Plymouth, Devon
November 5th – 7th
The National Marine Aquarium in Plymouth is honored to be the location for the inaugural BIAZA Education and Presenters Conference.
As this is the first time schools and public engagement teams have been brought together at the same conference, the theme of the conference is all about talking – It’s Good To Talk! We talk to our visitors, but do we talk to each other enough? We feel that there is a lot to be learnt by sharing ideas, techniques and activities that could work just as well in a schools or public engagement setting. The conference will focus on networking and ensuring best practice is shared.
The programme is now in its final stages of planning and is looking both exciting and innovate.
All workshop sessions are now filled, however we still have room for three 5 minute talks on “informal learning”. If you would like to share anything that you feel would be of interest to others please do let us know.
We are also still looking for posters so do let us know if you would like to bring some printed information along with you.
To add some extra ‘bang’ and ‘sparkle’ to the event, on the evening of the 5th – we will be able to watch the fantastic Plymouth fireworks display from the Aquarium garden or inside our Horizons Bar if it’s a bit cold! We’re then in the perfect location to carry on the festivities in the pubs and bars of the Barbican. There will also be an icebreaker event on the 4th of November at Rockfish. Rockfish is a seafood restaurant that overlooks the ocean, and is right next door to the National Marine Aquarium. The famous Plymouth fish market is just feet from our front door and from Rockfish you can watch the boats land. After the meal there will be chance to take a stroll to the bars and pubs of the historic Barbican and Hoe districts.
Following feedback, we’ve also added an optional extra third day to the conference. If you are available to stay in Plymouth until the Saturday – we’ll be serving breakfast and then providing a free space for attendees to take part in topic based informal discussions as a whole group or as breakout teams.
To keep conference costs down and to ensure we are as green blue as possible, we have not arranged transport from hotels/B&B’s. We therefore recommend that you stay as close to the Aquarium as possible. The Aquarium is a 15 minute walk from the town center and from Citadell Road. We have secured a conference rate at the New Continental Hotel (http://www.newcontinental.co.uk/). There are also a wide selection of guest houses and B&B’s near to the Aquarium – see list below. Prices start from £35 per night.
Tickets are on sale NOW, there are early bird discounts until the 3rd of September (prices will go up to £65.00 for members and £80.00 non members per day after this). You can book both days and the social events or pick and chose to build your own conference package. When you have booked your tickets, you will be sent further information regarding accommodation and other event details.
