Ocean Conversations: Youth in Conservation

The Ocean Conservation Trust will be celebrating young people in conservation this October, with our next Ocean Conversations event. Young people are the future of conservation, but can often feel powerless when effecting change at higher levels to ensure a sustainable future.

At this event, young people will be able to take part in hand's on workshops and immersive experiences to learn more about the Ocean. We will also be highlighting the opportunities for young people to get involved with - whether its to support a future career in Ocean conservation, or just for a bit of fun!

Speakers will be highlighting topics such as:

- Youth Voices in Ocean Conservation - Dylan Lynch, Youth Engagement Coordinator, Ocean Conservation Trust

- Work Experience - Ian Symonds, Work Experience Coordinator, Ocean Conservation Trust

- Volunteering in Ocean Conservation - Safa Saaed, Volunteer Officer, Ocean Conservation Trust

- Creative ways to save the Ocean - Gem Smith, Head of Engagement Programme, Take A Part

- Opportunities for Young Conservationists abroard - Saskia Van Der Molen, Sea Turtle Conservation and University of Plymouth

Doors open at 5:30pm, with the whole event finishing at 8:30pm.

Please note, there will be limited access to Aquarium exhibits for this event, and our Waves Cafe/Ocean gift shop will not be open. Our Eddystone bar will be open for refreshments thoughout the evening.

Whilst this is a youth led event, the nature of the session is lecture style with hands on workshops, so may not be suitable for those under 10. All children must be accompanied by an adult.
